Default TDC Question

Gen2 Integra LS - Replacing Timming belt and tensioner.

Trying to put a new Tbelt on and following the helms directions. Helms says the middle notch on the crank pulley (marked red on the pic) is TDC on #1 cyclindar but I have a screw driver going thro the spark plug hole in the head resting on the piston (to indicate height of piston) and the "actual" TDC lines up with the white mark on the crank pulley. WTF is the deal with that? What is that white mark supposed to indicate? Should I install the Tbelt with the crank pulley on the red or white mark - Helms says red.

The white mark is TDC. The red marks are for setting ignition timing.

I loosen the tensioner all the way, put the belt on the exhaust cam, take the slack out of the front of the belt, then slip the belt onto the intake cam.

i dont know if youre supposed to do it this way but i put the belt on the intake cam and take the exhaust cam gear...put the belt on while its off and put it on. its kinda hard but you just gotta make sure you get the teeth right. we were just being lazy and didnt wanna deal w/the tensioner
