Please Help, DOHC ZC Timing questions
Well, My repair manuel says that There should be a mark on the outside of the crank pulley that is suppose to line up with a mark on the plasitc covering. However, my crank pulley doesnt have a mark etched on the outside,.. It has 2 little red dots on the inside ( close to the crank pulley bolt ). As it is, when I start the car it throws a code 4... and I just replaced the dizzy
Heres my question. If i take the plug of cyl 1 out and I stick something down there. When the piston is at the top of its stroke. The cam gears line up, however, the red dots on the crank pulley, are almost 180 degrees off.. Will a car still run with it being off this much?
Are there suppose to be little red dots? anyone else have them?

There should be a white dot on the outside rim of the crank pulley, then 3 red marks about 2 inches from that. The 1 white mark is your TDC which lines up with the belt cover, then the 3 red are your ignition timing marks. Mine has them but sometimes they do wear off, check to see if you have grooves there and the paint just wore off.

i had some problems getting my zc to run right as well.
i ended up just using a long extension, and turned the engine over until the #1 cylinder was at tdc. i used the extension to feel when the piston was at the peak of its travel. i may be off a few degrees(i hope not but its running great), but those marks were way off and everytime i tried using them my car ran like ****.
i think someone put the wrong crank pulley on my zc though. good luck.
