I over reved my the motor last week and my Vafc said it hit 9973RPMs. The car still seems to run great and idle is fine. I dynoed it last week and didnt see any kind of loss of power and the air/fuel is running perfect. The car doesnt smoke either but the only thing is that its making a soft tapping noise now. How much damage do u think im looking at?, Im going to take it to the shop monday but I was just curious to know if i was going to be looking a big problem. You think a vavle adjustment is in order?.

 

u probably had some valve float of some sort. Id say adjust that valves then go from there. If thats not it, look for other simple stuff cuz thats what it usually is. Do u have a rev limiter?

 

Out of curiosity, how similar do valve noises and injector noises sound? I don't know that I've ever heard valve tapping, or if I did, I couldn't distinguish it from dirty injectors.
