Default taking apart tranny questions....

when i take apart my tranny do i take off the 12 mm bolts and then pull it apart? also what should i use to re-seal it? one more question how can i tell if the tranny is a b16 or a gsr? there are no codes stamped into it so could there possibly be some stamped on the inside of the housing? if anyone has torque specs can i have those too? thanks sooooo much guys you are saving me once again

A shop manual is a must for this job...

Pull the 12mm, pull the detent ball bolts, unlock the circlip, then pry apart. Reseal w/Hondabond or any ATV silicon sealant.

The b16 and GSR are identical I believe (anyone care to confirm?) I don't have torque specs right now. It's probably around 22lb/ft for the 12mm, you gotta tighten them in a criss-cross pattern. It's really fun getting the case back together...

thanks man. i have a chilton but it doesnt say anything about the tranny itself because the whole book is vague about everything. i heard that if you put the tranny into fourth then it is easier to get back together??? but there is no way to tell them apart because the gsr has a little bit longer gearing but ill have to just rip it apart and check it out.
thanks again man
also any other info will be very helpful thanks guys
