Default Tach doesn't read correctly after b18c install.

I have a b18c in an ej1 and used the z6 harness. It SHOWS vtec kicks in around 4k. The motor revs to 6800 in some gears, 7k in the others. However, it reachs 120 in 4th and it's at 7k. Therefore, I think it's revving out like it should (to 8200rpms), but the tach just doesn't read up to 8200 like it should. Instead it seems like its spaced out between 0 & 7000 rpms. What would be causing this?

there is this sensor that connects to the engine to tell you on the gauges the rpm and mph. i forget the name but this is probably what is causing your rpm problem
