system to lean or too rich (code 45) and some more
I am having a problem w/ my turbocharged gsr in my civic. It is a complete stock motor except a inline pro headgasket. I have 99 civic ex w/ 01 gsr motor
Precision 60wheel/.63 a/r
log style manifold
2.5 inch dwnp w/ 3inch exhaust (mandrel bent) No cat
stock injectors
b16 ecu
inlinepro headgasket
inlinepro cam gears
vt fmu 12:1
v-afc
msd sci w/ blaster ss and msd wires
tial 35mm wastegate
The problem I am having is my car will ride strong as hell for a while then all of the sudden my a/f gauge stops working (stays in lean) and throughs code 45(system to lean or too rich) and a code 67(catalylic system, I have no cat). When my gauge stops working my car rides like straight ****, until i change the o2 sensor. When i change the o2 sensor it rides strong as hell for about a week until the same thing happens again. Also sometimes my car throughs a cylinder position code, too but not always. I am running 9psi, too. Also I have a obd1 gsr ecu w/ the adapter and the same thing happen w/ that ecu but when my gauge stop working the car was almost undriveable. The car would shut off all the time and buck like a bitch. Some people says its my o2 sensor but that doesnt make sense for the same thing to happen more than twice. Some people say its my distributor. I have no fuckling clue anymore. Can somebody give me some ideas

I am also having the same problem, i have a 95 Del Sol B16A3 OBD-1, and i'm getting the most horrific gas mileage ever, bout 90 miles every 5gl, the engine is turbo charged and i am running a V-AFC whenever i open up the throttle it jumps real lean abou 4000-5500, and then plains out a lil rich after that, i really need some answers too. Also the car is flashing check engine every time i get on it and i can't have anyone around here check it to find out what it is.
whats your set up. I checked my plugs and they were white on the tips but my a/f gauge says that it is rich. I have had this problem for a few months and i am just starting to figure it out. What it seems to be is that my **** is running lean which over about weeks period of time is causing the o2 sensor to go bad and making my car ride like ****. So what i am doing is putting some dsm 423 injectors out of a 93 eagle talon in my car on thursday. that should correct the lean part and then in 3 weeks i am going stand alone w/ a hondata s200boost program. i have spent a little money all over trying to fix the problem and it is starting to amount out to be alot of money fix something that is probally very small. What i would do if i was you would be go stand alone. The money you will spend on trying to fix your problem will not be as much as stand alone but it will be close. The good thing is that you will have a del sol that seems like it was made to have turbo on it from the factory. Let me no some things about your motor and your set up and i will try to help you not make some of the mistakes i had to go through the hard way.
B16A3 w/ Greddy 99-00 Civic SI Turbo Kit, 18G Mitsu turbo, RC 330 inj, and APEX'i V-AFC. A big problem i have is going real lean boosting between 4k and 5500 rmps. I mean LEAN. The air fuel gauge goes back up and the engine draws a lot of horses as soon as it goes back up, i've got the think pegged on the V-AFC to as high fuel up as possible in those rpms, but is still very lean. I'm also getting terrible gas mileage. Rough idle. Check engine light comes on after i get on it. Haven't checked code yet. But then it idles smooth at 1100 with rich mixture and i've tried lowering it but it does nothing. 13mpg!!! Its a complete discrace. When i had the Greddy FCU on it ran high 20's mpg and had tremendous kick with a pretty rich mixture but with an even worse idle. I'd really like to swap to OBD-II with the FCU is made for, but i don't know how to get there. What would i need to complete that swap? I was told though that it might be vacuum hoses or gaskets causing this problem with the gas mileage and a/f problems.

what i would do if i was you would be go stand alone.(hondata). I dont know anybody that has a obd1 motor and tried to make it obd2. Everybody trys to make there cars obd1 b/c it is alot tuner friendly. the amount of money and more problems you are going to experience try to make your car obd2 is going to really be a waste. When really if you spend a little extra money now on stand alone you will be able to sell that fcu, fmus and other stuff and you will be able to fine tune that problem and should be worry free.
Well I would but no one within like 500 miles can tune it. I reconnected the Greddy FCU and its running pretty damn good except for a lean low idle between 350-800. Anyway to fix this. Could changing my set screw by the thottle body for the throttle fix this?
