Default synthetic oil

Does it add performance to a car? I changed to syn. oil and my car feels a bit smoother and quicker.

wouldn't smoother and thinner reduced internal friction thus an increase in power?

It reduces friction and sticks to the parts better, so your car might run a little bit better.
