switch block?
hey which block do you think would the best for a NA civc hatch , it's gutted it,s about 18 - 1900 lbs. i am going to run high compression 12 - 13- 1 ratio , i have a LS block and i was thinking about putting GSR internals to make it a high reving motor the block will be shaved to help raise compression with dome top pistons. thinking about doing a 84 mm bor job on the LS , YES OR NO ?
WHICH INTAKE manifold? victor X or ITR or skunk 2 ? thanks for all your help?

It's a topic of common debate, here's the major issue:
VTEC blocks have the oil squirters which spray the bottoms of the pistons for cooling. Some argue this is a cooling/lubrication advantage, where others, when using VTEC blocks, plug the squirters claiming that the oil is only parasitic drag on the crank and pistons becuase of it's weight.
Because of the stroke, you can make the LS a higher compression motor. GS-R internals won't get you into the 12:1 ratio, not even 11:1. If you want a high 12:1 ratio, use the LS block, put in PCT pistons (B16B Civic Type R) but the largest bore you can go with OEM pistons is 81.25mm If you want to do 84mm bore, you'll have to sleeve the motor and get custom, forged pistons. The rods and pistons won't matter about the ability to rev high until you get down to the crank.
You might want to figure out your block first before you start worrying about which intake manifold. Edelbrock manifold will give you more flow, but you'll have to have very agressive cam profile and high compression to move this kind of air. If you're going with a less-agressive cam profile, the ITR/Skunk2 (same manifold, in essence) will be your manifold.
It would be helpfull if you noted which head you were planning on using.
