Default Swaybar Physics?

Hey guys, I recently bought the Comptech Rear Sway/Tie bar combo for my 97 DX HB. In stock form, the car has neither a front or rear sway bar to begin with. On an autoX course, I could probably be safe just running the rear bar without a front bar...but i plan on daily driving this car as well. What are your suggestions for a front sway, i don't want to have too much oversteer on the street! The rear is 22mm...I've been told to get a smaller bar up front to retain a little bit of oversteer for street use. Let me know guys!

The SI comes stock with a 26mm front and a puny 13mm rear

The Type R comes with a 25mm front and a 22mm rear.

See the pattern?

I suggest you get one or the other for the front.

Edit: the need for a bigger front is because that is where the weight of the car is.

just remember if you get any honda sway bar, you will need to change your lower contol arms as well, becuase if I am not mistaken, none of the ek hatchbacks have swaybar mounts in the front lca's.

The EX setup is a 22mm Front, you will need EX lower control arms

the SI/CTR setup is 26mm, you will need the SI/CTR lca's AND forks.

WTF? Did I speak greek?

Read what it says, if you want to put an SI sway bar on an ek hatch, YOU ALSO NEED THE FRONT LCAS AND FORKS

If you want to put the EX sway bar on, YOU WILL ALSO NEED THE FRONT LCAS

I know the HX did and why the hell would that thing need front sways if the DX doesn't.

Just another question then, doesn't it already have the holes for the mounts?

I know that the coupes don't have rear bars but they do have mounting holes in there components.

The front LCA's on hatchbacks DO NOT have sway bar mounting holes. I can verify 96-98 cx's and dx's but not positive about later years.

The hatchbacks DO HAVE the mounting holes in the rear lcas though.

SI and NON SI sways bars are totally different. The SI front sway uses endlinks similar to the rear swaybar. The non SI sway bars use basically a long bolt with bushings smashed between washers

Thats why you need SI lca's to use the SI sway bar. And the SI LCAs are so beefy that the forks are wider. Thats why you can't use non SI forks either.
