suspension problems please read...searched
Hey,
Im a newbie in terms of posting, but ive been on honda tech for a while now... so hopefully i dont get ripped for another omni question, but ive searched, so here goes. I just put omnis on my 92 hatch yesterday, and took it out. They are lowered a considerable amount, and def need to be raised but i dont think it has anything to do with this problem.
Whenever i go over a bump the rear suspension makes a loud metal on metal clank. its bottoming out the suspension? i feel like that has nothing to do with how low it is, just based on the way the setup of the coilover is, so is it maybe another moving part in the suspension? Hopefully this isnt a dumb question.... be gentle.
Eric

metal on metal clank? bushings prevent metal on metal contact, how are your bushings? Should need to be replaced by now on a 92.
I also would think that even if the spring wasnt flush with the top and the perch it would make a metal on metal noise because the cars weight would be on it and plus I never had that problem with 2 previous coilover setups that werent true shortstrokes.

Im gonna get the car up today... for little christmas tuning. Im gonna raise up the whole thing so its not so low( i get rub on hard turns in the front) then look at everything you guys told me, and hopefully fix it up.
on a side note, there cant be too much road testing because the exhaust flat out broke off drivin yesterday and im now running straight header. Ill keep this updated.
Thanks again

pulled the rear apart today... and tightened up the black pieces to make the spring a little more snug and fixed the noise.... still have a little rub up front but overall i am very pleased with the omni streets i picked up. Thanks Kteller
Now i jsut have to get through the snow of jersey...
Now i jsut have to get through the snow of jersey...
finally got to the bottom of it.
In between the spring and the spanner? i think thats what its called (the black thing that you tighten to keep the spring at height), there is a foamish gasket. When i had adjusted the suspension before this it apparently got twisted exposing the spring to the metal...coming in contact with during bumps and hard cornering. MAKE SURE THAT ITS FLAT... i dont know if this is known or good info but it took me 3 days to figure out
