Default Suggestions on ALL MOTOR power

I'm getting a JDM DEL SOL and I want to build some all motor power. It has a b16. I bought a set or CTR cams, pistons, ITR springs and retainers, and plan to install those. This will be a semi daily driver and want to keep it with reasonable compression for gas and daily driven purposes. What other suggestions should i do as bolt ons or work to get me downt the 1320 as quick as possible. I thought about a DC cold air, skunk2 intake, ITR or spoon throttle body, spoon header, and apexi exhaust. Any help would be apprieciated.

WOW a JDM DEL SOL!!! I wanna see the glass roof, and the map lights when you get it... As for going faster, are you wanting to take the motor apart and do some madhine work? Do you just want to bolt things on and try to be fast?

Build a B18A/B/C or B20B/Z block for it.... Put a deck plate on it maybe like AEBS CRX.. That will get some more power out of the B16.. Personally I would just stick with a GSR... You don't have to run an external oil feed line, you got stronger rods, etc. If you really want some power send it out to GE and have it sleeved up. Good Luck

I don't want to buy another motor. I have a reasonable setup to start with. A lot of people say get a B18, but why since I have a VTEC base motor with low miles to start. I just want to build this one up for now and later I want to build a h22a turbo. For now I'm looking for any help with 'all motor' suggestions to get me to go quicker. thanks for the help.

NA you'll want to to go high lift cams, 12:1 compression (at least), lighter flywheel, ACT clutch, nice header, ITR plenum, big bore TB, ITR tranny with ATS, micropolish the crank, balance everything, might even over bore .02.... that should get you started on making some hp gains. Oh yeah.... HONDATA!!!

What other CTR or ITR parts should I consider using? What about ecu?

I recommend 12.1:1 or more compression with a HondaSaver valvetrain and cams. They put down an average of +5whp and +5 ft\lbs of torque over Jun III's. They will be tested in my B18C1 around x-mas. We are expecting around 215-220 whp.

Talk to Rocket on this board for more info. 298 degrees of duration and 12mm of lift. Wicked cams.

If you don't want to get a bigger disp motor, at least work on the head. P&P, Hondasaver Valvetrain (Why not). Then you'll have the capability to run the cams they are talking about (12mm lift would kill a stock valvetrain, I would have to guess)
And what about the JG manifold? If you want a DD, AND a fast car, build it to have massive power gains up high, but don't rev to 10k on the way to work.
For the money you's spoend on a Jun TB, you could run all types of bigger, weird TB's, like 80mm per say. espeically if you get the JG manifold. Aluminum is easier to cut/weld to.

Anyway, good luck

Once we get some numbers out for them, the cams will be sold at around $800 for a pair. I may host a group buy which would lower the price a bit. As far as reliability, the tuner in Singapore was incredibly impressed with the quality of the cams. My car will be the first or second to run them as a daily driver so I will definately post up my experience with them.

Again, talk to Rocket on this board for any questions.

not to get off topic.. but quality wise whats the difference between Hondasaver and Skunk products? price difference? What valvetrain components do they make? I'm in the market for Ti-retainers myself. Do they make those.. ? how do they compare to Crower, skunk, web, portflow?

well since you have pistons and are planning on tearing down the motor, you should port and polish the head while your at it, then and chip the ecu.
The set up should feel nice. o yeah when your done tuning also will benefit from this.........

Well what about the ECU? Should I get it chipped or what? What other CTR or ITR parts should I look for? N-1 crank? What would help make power on the high end of the rev for the track and still be DD?

I would just go with a chipped P28 and Hondata... That's all you need...

Well how much is the Hondata? And when u say chipped p28 what should I be using? I was thinking about the skunk2 intake manifold or the ITR manifold. Which one would be better and why? I think I want to go with mid-high power so I dont smoting it going to work. thanks

You can get a basic Hondata setup for ~$500.... It doesn't really matter what prog you use on the P28 since it will all be overridden by the Hondata... Check out this link, i was talkin about the SK2 vs. the ITR intake manifolds... Latez https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=353480 As long as you got a B16/PR3 head you can use either... If you got a GSR then you are limited to the SK2 unless you modify it....
