does anyone have a b16a2 but it doesnt say on the block and reads only b16?the guy i bought the motor from told me its a b16a2. well i think it a 2ndgen cause it has a hydraulic tranny?

 

The hydo tranny will bolt right up to a first gen b16a.Does it have a crank angle sensor in the timing belt cover near the balancer.A b16a will not have this sensor.

the guy that sold it to you might have ment b16 sirII.. which is of the 92-95 civic and off the integra xsi.. look at the front of head and see what year the motor is..

 

Also look below the engine code, you should see the number 5 followed by various other numbers.. here are the numbers that verify what car your b16 came from after the number 5
50 1990 160hp }
52 1991 160hp }4g Civic/CRX SiR
and
54 1992+ 170hp 5th and 6th gen SiR, SiRII and CRX delsol SiR.
