Default Stuck in park, need help...

Just finished an automatic jdm b16a swap into a 93 dx sedan. Car runs and shifts fine but I can't get the shifter out of park without sticking the key in the release slot. I don't know auto trannys too well so I need some help. I'm going to check the brake lights and fuses along with the brake switch. Any other ideas/solutions?

PS. this is not my car so don't ask me why I didn't switch to manual.

KJ

Sounds like something to do with the switch on the brake. Does it do that click when you apply the brake like it's unlocking the shifter?

Sounds like the brake switch or the shift lock solenoid.

Temporary fix until you are able to get the proper solution... Put a popsicle stick in the release slot. It works. Or he could get an aftermarket shift **** and install it to where he doesn't have to use the button. That is how my **** is done. Its been that way for 3 years and has absolutely no negative effects on anything. I know this is not the answer that you were looking for, but it will work. Hope this helps.
