Stuck Alternator Bolt
I just swapped my old CX engine into my VX. When I started it up, I noticed smoke coming from the engine bay, found out that the alternator had sized (probably due to me trying to pull that engine out of a wadded up car). So I went to remove it. The top bolt came off fine, the nut on the lower bolt came off with a little work, but the bolt itself WON'T come out. I've tried using a bar and hammer to beat on it. I tried heating it up. I tried letting a bunch of penetrating oil sit on it. I'm out of ideas.
I then went back to the VX engine I pulled out, and figured I'd pull that alternator and turn it in as core instead. So I pulled the top bolt fine, the bottom nut fine, and the bolt on it WOULDN'T come out! I had to beat on it with a hammer back and forth for over an hour before my set could pound it out.
I mean, I'm following the Helms manual here. What am I missing? Anyone have any ideas? I have no idea how I'm going to get the alternator out without pulling the stupid engine again (which I'd rather not do).
