Default Straight pipe

I had a question about straight pipes. My stock cat seems clogged because it smells like crap (rotten eggs) when my car is in neutral or even moving. If it was clogged, then I was thnking about just straight piping it. My question is, does straight piping help me gain HP or am I just better off waiting and getting a high flow cat? Any advice would be very appreciated. Thanks.
