Stock Rods in the b20???
I have a crvtec setup as of right now and had put about just over 10k miles on it. Runs totally fine, but now I am changin up the head with some skunk2 stage 2 cams and plan on revvin to 9000 with a chipped p28 w/ the skunk2 program. I just needed to know if the stock rods can handle that friction or not. BTW the engine is also sitting at 12.5-1 compression and has the Z10 block girdle.
I highly doubt that could stand that!
I'd at LEAST shotpeen the rods and get some ARP rod bolts. Even then I wouldn't feel safe. I've heard the stock sleeves don't like high RPMS and high compression very much either...

You will need at least ARP rod bolts and proper engine clearances to last at 9K. Plus I hope that Z10 girdle is installed correctly...otherwise it is just taking up space in that oil pan and that is about it.

rods are fine. need arp rod bolts though.

taking it to 9000 with stock rods and unbalanced crank could lead to probs quickly, but i know people making incredible power with drop in 12.5:1 pistons on stock rods and a built head revving 8500
i'd agree...you should balance the crank and have it polished...there is a guy on here that is in the MD area...think his name is nonvtc allmtr...something like that...revs his b20 with stock everything but pistons to 8500rpm...and aparently he hasnt had any problems...but i dont know how long it has been running like that
Balancing is key but, the "weak" point in LS or CRV -VTECs are the rods bolts. Stock versions give way to tensional stresses under high rpm loads. This is why ARP (at the very least) rod bolts are recommended.
