stiffer mounts without idle vibration?

stiffer mounts without idle vibration?
so I tried to install my hasport mounts in my daily stock gsr.
I was not very happy with the idle vibration at all.
it is louder on the freeway and just annoying as sht when idling.
in my weekend warrior it was ok because I don't care about comfort lol
I searched and so far came up empty on what I can do to improve this without increasing the vibration.
engine damper?
H brace?
I never had a chance to drive in a car with DYI urethane filled mounts and don't know if they are similar to hasport solid mounts or somewhere inbetween
in other words what can I do to prevent engine tilt during shift without increasing the vibration at idle.(if that's possible)
its gonna be supercharged type-r motor so its not gonnabe driven like a stock LS auto

Re: stiffer mounts without idle vibration?
manual is confusing.
is the engine supposed to be resting on those two mounts( transmission and upper driver side)
or is it supposed to be hanging on hoist or supported by jack and aligned to the center of the engine mounts.
it just says tighten transmission mount bolt then driver side then rear mount.

Re: stiffer mounts without idle vibration?
i cannot comment about the order, but anytime you have a stiffer mount it will transfer more vibration to the chassis. that's plain old physics.

Re: stiffer mounts without idle vibration?
I hate vibrating poly mounts and general harshness with a lot of configurations. The best I have found so far and verified on 2 dc2 is to use energy inserts on the rear mount only (crossmember). It barely makes a noticeable increase in NVH.

any time you increase stiffness you increase vibration transfer. you can't increase the stiffness and retain the OEM vibration dampening, it just doesn't work that way

Re: stiffer mounts without idle vibration?
ok so can anyone with experience rate these options for me then?
stock mounts
urethane inserts
urethane filled oem mounts
solid mounts
(are different brands different stiffness and amount of vibration or all aftermarket street mounts are same?)

Re: stiffer mounts without idle vibration?
If you don't want the vibrations stay away from solid mounts. I have innovative street mounts and OEM front torque mounts with poly inserts. Like I said, I tightened them down in sequence. Vibration is not bad at all.
If your engine is in already, just loosen the mounts and retorque them in sequence.

Re: stiffer mounts without idle vibration?
manual doesn't say
should the engine be hoisted up or should it rest on the mounts when they are torqued at the motor side.
its confusing.. it says the sequence but doesn't say if it should still be hoisted or jacked up to the center of each mount or just let it sit on the mounts and then torque them in sequence

Re: stiffer mounts without idle vibration?
I just let them sit in the mounts. Than tighten in sequence.
I actually had bad vibrations than read about the torque sequence, looked it up in the FSM.
Went out and just loosed the mounts while the engine was already in. Don't be startled when the engine drops a little heheh

Re: stiffer mounts without idle vibration?
just did that and no real improvement.
can anyone give a rating for all those options please for idle vibration.
I only used stock and hasport cant speak for other options
stock mounts
urethane inserts
urethane filled stock mounts
hasport
other brand of solid mounts.
and can a mismatched clutch and pressure plate cause bad shifts?
blown out differential?
what else should I check?

Re: stiffer mounts without idle vibration?
It's a give and take.

Re: stiffer mounts without idle vibration?
in my ek4 civic i had energy suspension poly inserts, was no vibrations at all, was overly impressed with them with my daily toyota now because its very hard to get poly mounts i filled the oem mounts with poly and drilled 3 holes through the mounts and they have been good the last year they are stiff but again no vibrations

Re: stiffer mounts without idle vibration?
i don't see how any sequence is going to make a difference.. can you explain?

Re: stiffer mounts without idle vibration?
I found that my rear mount split on one End.
I put the hasport in and i still feel a little bouncing.
Im guessing i need to check suspension bushings.
I want just slightly stiffer than oem mounts because these hasport street mounts are horrible for daily.

Re: stiffer mounts without idle vibration?
You want the engine to be in a neutral position. Makes sense to me and the FSM says to do it so it has to be right, right? J/k
Do you torque all your suspension parts while the car is on the jackets?
Heres some reading from 2010

jackets?
I haven't touched suspension on this one its original oem looks like
need to check bushings.
theres a suspicious bouncing when I let go the throttle or step on it in same gear.. I can feel the bouncing still which I shouldn't.

Re: stiffer mounts without idle vibration?
but like seriously all im trying to find out if the urethane filled stock mounts have less vibration than hasport
or maybe theres other brand of aftermarket mounts that are made from softer urethane than hasport. I just want softer urethane but hasport doesn't make any softer than street version.

Re: stiffer mounts without idle vibration?
Oem trans, driver, and rear with urethane insert, filled torque mounts with silicone instead of polyurethane(much softer but fills in the open voids). Best balance of reducing engine movement with least increase in NVH I have personally experienced.

Re: stiffer mounts without idle vibration?
Im running hardrace mounts all the way around, with a open header, and only thing thing that vibrates is my steering wheel if im not holding it.
Edit: idles at 500..lol

Re: stiffer mounts without idle vibration?
ok so I can use softer urethane to get the happy medium.
what type of urethane people use is it something can be found in local store?
is there a better/worse brand to use?
I think im gonna give a try to filled stock mounts because the hasport street are horrible for a daily.
