Default STEERING WHEEL DOESNT WORK

just finished puting trans in my car but now the airbag light is on and the steering wheel spins all the way around with out the wheels turning im not a master tech and i know it has something to do with the rack but can someone help me out PLEASE

did you disconnect the tie rods? maybe to get the axles out of the knuckles..? what instructions were you following for the trans removal and install?

i didnt do it myself but we were able to fix the steering wheel i think the guy said the shaft was disconnected from the rack but now nothing on the steering wheel works no cruise control no radio controls no horn and the airbag light is on

when you spun the steering wheel without the shaft hooked up you broke the clock spring. It needs to be replaced.

i second that. not a hard job, but to me the 'cable reel' or 'clock spring' is pretty expensive for a plastic box with a spool of ribbon cable inside...

No kidding. Most are not too bad, but when you have steering wheel mounted controls,, things get expensive.
