Re: please help
Sounds like the wiring in the steering column is not plugged in correctly or was crimped during reassembly.
I've had plenty of mechanics **** up trans jobs before; even when they don't have to go into the damn thing and replace parts. Had one plug the speedometer connector in WITH THE CAR RUNNING and fried the speedo.

Re: please help
your steering wheel lights up?
you need to remove the steering wheel and reassess the connectors to make sure that they are seated correctly... it doesn't sound like you assembly was reassembled correctly. even if the connector is seated, make sure your pins are all in good condition within the connector prior to reassembly.
whatever happened, there should be NO WAY that a wheel can spin 360 degrees... its a multi tooth cog and I really do not think you can get the nut on when the wheel is not seat appropriately.

Re: please help
Absolutely. The cable reel assyembly twisted apart internally. You will need to remove the steering wheel to replace that. I suggest letting a professional handle that since it is safety related. The steering wheel was moving because the steering joint to rack connection was not poperly connected after the transmission install. Particularly the subframe install. That was a very dangerous mistake to make and should be noted as such. One has to always remember safety when working on vehicles. THis kind of error could have been fatal. NOt only for you but others on the road. So checking and rechecking what I call critical points is no waste of time. Steering joint connection is a critical point. Like ball joint nuts and cotter pins critical. The kind of stuff that makes body damage if you forget it. Anyway thats why I suggest finding someone more pro than the tranny team to tackle the cable reel assembly. Not saying you can't but there are special service precautions and procedures for installation. And also you'll most likely need the SRS light reset afterwards. Most serious import shops as well as the local dealer are able to take care of this easily.
