Steering Rack Replacement - Help
Hello all,
I'll get straight to the point. I'm replacing the rack on my 95 civic ex ABS Automatic. Replacing it with a rack from an early 90's teg that I was told will work. The rack seems as though it is going line up correctly, my only problem is that the rack being replaced has a line at the valve body for oil cooling and the rack I'm replacing it with does not. My question is, can I simply cap off that line to the radiator and run the rack with no cooling? It was obviously designed to run that way but the civic was not. Will that have any effect on the pump? Any professional input would be greatly appreciated. I would prefer to not have some 16 year old kid tell me, "yea...that should work fine" and then later run into problems. Thanks in advance all!

I have no idea why honda did that with the third line. What you could do, to avoid any potential problems is swap the lines from the integra as well. When you say early 90's, I hope you mean a '94 and up BTW.
As for plugging the line that you have, as long as you bypass the cooler so there is no feed or return, you can plug the line with no issues. Base model integras had no coolers whereas the GSR had one. Could be a requirement for the higher revving engine.
Oh, the integra cooler didn't use a separate line. They just ran the return through it.
Good luck,
Alex
