I bought a peice of junk gsr 4dr with an itr front end on it. had it for months now and it has run fine, smokes as much as any modded honda engine, idles at about 750, vtech kicks in at 4700rpm. however about a month ago it would start. the check engine light has been on since i bought it and its thrown a code 9. when i go to turn the key, it makes a high pitch grinding sound. makes the same type sound while driving it, just not as loud. thought maybe teeth on either the starter or flywheel may have possibly broken off, but its not likely. my car also will not pass TN emmessions inspection, due to the code 9 and that its feeding too much fuel. What im wondering is if these 2 problems could both be solved by replacing the entire dizzy? i think it will, because if the bearing in the dizzy is out it would make the same type of sound when you try to turn it over, and the starter usually just clicks when it goes bad. help me out guys, your the pros, im just the guy that buys a car just because its 3 grand for a 4dr gsr with a itr front and doesnt think to inspect anything but the itr front end lol.

 

You'll need to replace the entire distributor. You should be able to find them online for a reasonable price. I think the name of the aftermarket company I used was Distributor King. I've bought a couple and have had great luck with them.

As for the grinding...got me. It could be a problem with the starter but without hearing it myself, I can only guess.
