Default Steering Column retaining collar

I guess steering falls into the "misc" section....

can the highlighted piece be bought seperately from the coulmn ? i've called two dealerships and one said it can only be bought with the entire column assembly, after telling me that the part didn't exist and then telling me i was wrong and needed to buy #3 in the picture, and the other said it costs $3.52 but its not on the column, its on the rack

the helms manual says its replaceable but the dealerships digress. can anybody give me a definitive answer or am i going to have to pay a junkyard $100 labor for a $3 part ?

thanks

go to a u-pull yard and grab it yourself. That or find someone on here parting out a car.

Did you go to the dealership and have them print it out so you could point out the part, or did you call and describe it? If you did not go in, do it again. That or order the part from http://www.hondaautomotiveparts.com
They are almost always the cheapest anyway.

Thats the part that enables the steering colum to collapse in an impact (telescopic). Now I dont know about this particular case, but I dont think that part can be removed easily, because if its loose then your upper part of the colum would turn but the lower part wouldnt = no steering.

Might be wrong, but thats how I percieve this.

All i know is that part is a little plastic piece that sits between #2 and #7 and when its not installed, the column is loose as hell. I always figured it was some kind of bushing.
