Does anyone have a link on how-to rebuild/replace the starter motor contact points and what part numbers do I need to order from toyota for a starter from a MT B series.

 

my brother rebuild mines not so long ago.....he use alot of gasoline to clean the parts in there and he use alot of grease.....now it works like new.....u could almost not hear the starter when u crank it because it's so smooth......

found the part numbers with a bit more searching, here are the part numbers from toyota.

28226-74070
28226-64370

 

here is a good article about rebuilding the starter, my only problem is there are no bolts on the end of my starter so i dont know how i can get to the 2 metal contacts inside?

i'm not too sure on this.. but my father replaced mines not too long ago.. there is a L shaped plate....

u can get these at h bros.. u have to take it apart i think... not too sure.. ill ask him.

 

BUMP!!! back from the dead because I need to rebuild my starter and im facing the same problem as this person. My starter doesnt have those two bolts where the contacts go. How can I rebuild this. I also need to identify my starter. What kind of starter does this have but for sure its a b series because my motor is a b20.

Not to be disrespectful but I believe that if you cannot figure out how to disassemble the starter you probably don't need to be working on the starter. They're not expensive to replace if they're worn out, and if you really want to do it right you'll replace the contacts or at least clean them, and replace the brushes, and while you're at it you might as well replace the bendix cause it's gonna go soon. But then after you've invested the time in taking the whole thing apart, you've paid for all these parts, you've put it all back together and installed it back in the car with 0 warranty... you can spend a few bucks more and buy one already assembled with a warranty. Just my $.02

Are these just the two part numbers for the contacts and the plunger like in that video? (only Denso/Nippo brand)

What about any replacement parts for the solenoid because that tends to go bad in a lot of start failing cases.
