after trying to start my car numerous times, the starter just stopped turning. i checked it and it was really hot. the plug in wire melted through to the wire and touched the starter bolt which may have been the problem. i took it down to kragen and it tested ok but it still wont turn when i turn the ignition. i checked all the fuses and they are all fine. anyone know what the problem could be????

 

I took, my starter to pep boys and it tested good, (it was bad), and I got a new one car started right up!

 

Mine just went out in the rex. It would make a single click, and after a few tries it would start up. Then one night it refused to start. I could hear the starter do a single click when the key was turned, but nothing more. Push started the car, put in a new starter the next day and it's fine.

 

FYI....if you think your starter is out, try cranking it and hit it with a hammer hard. If it starts up then your starter needs to be replaced. If it doesn't then the starter isn't getting the power. Honestly, I've seen respectable mechanics do this to test it.
