i don't know what the hell is wrong with my car. the car is a 1999 SiR and the only mods right now is a HKS filter and the pipe from the stock header to the aftermarket muffler was switched to a 2.5" diameter one coz i'm going turbo soon, and i don't know why my car doesn't start up like other cars especially another SiR.

other cars, especially other SiRs and our CRV would have a starting sound like crank-crank-crank(successive) then the engine would start up while my car does crrrr_rraaaank-craaank-crank(slowly) then the engine start. there's always a slight pause on the first crank(crrrr_rraaaank) sound, and during that pause the power windows would operate extremely slow. sometimes it just crrrraaaa(didn't crank completely) and then just starts up.

i don't think it's the battery since it's been like this for several months now and the battery hasn't died yet. the horn is still loud and my lights are ok. but i could be wrong. i once tested my sound system for about 15mins without starting the car and still battery didn't died yet.

what's wrong with my car??? each time i slowed down or about to stop at an intersection and step on the clutch, the tach needle instantly drop to 500rpm and then swings right back to 700rpm.

is there something wrong? what could be the problem?

 

Sounds exactly like your starter is going bad. One day it will prolly go crrrrr_rraaaaaank- crrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr_rank- crrrrrrrrr - . . . nothing.

The starter is the first thing I would check out if I were you, you can prolly have it tested at Advanced or somewhere like that.

 

probably the starter, but check all your connections on the starter, and make sure the ground connections are good on the motor, hope this helps

 

ok. i guess i just have to wait for something to stop working, that way it's easier since i don't have to guess what the problem is. it seems everything is affected and i don't know if it's fuel, ignition, starter or what. even my idle is fucked up whenever i step on the clutch to slow down or to make a complete stop. i give up!
