Default SRS and Horn not working...

My SRS light stays on after the car is started. And my horn doesn't work.
Just spent a couple of hours looking for loose wires / broken connectors. Turned up nothing.
Has anybody come up against this?
Any solutions / suggestions are welcomed.

Always check your fuses first when dealing with electrical problems.

Yup, first thing I checked. The horn and the brake switch is on the same circuit, and they still work. Must be something on the steering wheel side of the circuit.

Pull the fuse for them out and see if you have voltage on one side of the fuse. Then trace the wire coming off the fuse with it in and make sure you have voltage at the end of that wire.

I just spent a couple of hours checking fuses and ensuring there were no lose connections.
I know it isn't something like that. Appreciate the responses though.
The search turned up a possible answer - the cable reel.
Anyone know what it takes to replace that?
Can anyone give any insightas to how I remove the steering wheel
Hate that. I can swap an engine in two hours, but I don't know how to remove a fricken' steering wheel.

Have you tried turning your wheel from lock to lock while holding the horn down?

Uhhh...no, I haven't.
Is this a symptom of a bad cable reel?

Well the horn and air bag electronics are connected to the steering wheel by the clockspring.

If the clockspring is broken, the horn won't work and the air bag system will display a warning.

I don't know if turning the wheel from lock to lock will make any difference, but maybe it will and it will let you know what's wrong.

Pretty much sounds like you guys nailed it on the head with that part. The springs inside those parts sometimes mess up and loose connection. This will break off connection between the steering wheel and the car. The car can't check the airbag, and the horn wire is no longer connected.

Chances are your cruise control (if you have it installed) is not working either.
