Default SR20 swap question

ok, i know im talking about a 240sx here but i cant post on club240.com yet, and my question is more about engine swapping in general anyway, so im really looking to the swapping veterans for help here.

Im going to buy a 240sx in early december and i want to swap in an SR20 turbo motor which will cost me about $3000~ for the car and $2000 for the motor/tranny, but ive never done a swap before so im a little nervous about it. Im afraid of buying a clip or engine package and have it shipped to a shop where ill get a phone call saying that they cant complete the swap and get the car running because they dont have 'x' part and my car is in pieces on the floor.

First of all, does it matter if i get a clip or a motor/tranny package? How much should I look to spend paying for labor? Are there miscellaneous accessories that i should have to buy (like intercooler or piping)? From experience, do any swappers have specific 'do' and 'do not' advice? And lastly, is it worth swapping an SR20DET into an 89-97 240sx? Gain estimate?

mods if this makes you angry you can delete it or move it

These are the two motors and clip im looking at:

JDM 240SX SR20DET S13 SILVIA ENGINE W/ RWD 5SPD TRANS

NISSAN S13 SR20DET JDM ENGINE 240SX S14 SILVIA RPS13

Nissan SR20DET 5sp front clip w/ LSD and axles JDM

If you pick up this month's super street, it will answer all the questions
you have posted. Super Street did a full write up concerning both S13 and
S14 chassis motors.

Good Luck.

just turbo the ka24 although sr swaps are cool ive seen and ridden in several scary 2.4 liters. plus they are easy and cheap to find because everyone gets rid of them to do their sr swaps

I am working on a 240sx right now. We put a s15 sr20det in it we got the whole front clip everything we needed was there. Alot of wiring is involved. It took a good month before the car ran just right. we car building the motor now. Goin big money. Thank god its not my money though I just do the work. Don't get me wrong the car is sweeet but I wouldn't do that work anytime soon too long of time. I would send it to a swap shop that does that kind of stuff all day long. Its worth the money and time. GOOD LUCK
