While im driving my speedometer would work then all of a sudden drop and stop working, i dont think its the actual speed sensor because vtec will still engage while its off. does anybody have any inputs on whats wrong? thanks

 

also the speedo would turn off and on at random times, sometimes it works fine and sometimes it just dies out.

 

your speed sensor its the same thing that outputs to your speedo so if vtec works your speedo is dead.

It's probably broken and non-repairable without some real skill in electronics. I suggest going to the junk yard and pulling the guage cluster out of another car. the speedo section can be removed from the good unit and put in to yours.
