Speedometer not working

my speedometer isnt working on my 88 civic hb. Does anyone know how to check whats wrong with it? thanks

The cable? Pull the cable from the transmission and pull out the inner cable and see if it is broken/frayed/fucked up.

check your speed sensor on the tranny.also check your ecu for any trouble codes
