So I'm doing canyon runs Mulholland in Malibu on vacation down here, and all of a sudden my speedometer starts jumping up and down in about a 10mph variation. I know people have had this happen, is it the speed sensor thats doing it, or is it something else? I've had one go bad before, but it didn't behave irradicly like it is now. I'll look at the connector, but it's a tad dark out. Can anyone help?

 

Make sure the bolt for the speed sensor is still there. With out it, it can move around and cause a jumpy signal.

 

Yea check the speed sensor first. If everything looks good around there then you might check the ground on the tranny. I've forgoten before to put that back on but normally it makes ur whole cluster jump around. Let us know if anything works.

 

if its a cable tranny, make sure that the peedometer cable clip didnt slide out.
