Default speedo calibration

Sup guys. I am considering gettin 17" rims for my car, but last time i got bigger rims on a car it screwed up my speedo readings. is there a way to recalibrate this myself? or should i have someone do it for me? and i did do a search, so if its been covered before, sorry for reposting.

Yeah, it's been covered before. You can pick a 17" tire that has the same outside tread diameter as the factory stock tires. Then your speedometer will be OK. TireRack has stuff on their website to help you pick the right size.

Find a black&white car with lights on the roof. Drive past him at 70 mph according to your speedometer. I bet he'll be glad to tell you how fast you were really going...
