spark plugs, suggestions/help anyone?
hi i plan on going turbo on my b16a3(delsol engine) and was wondering what kind of plugs i should go with? what are the guidelines when choosing sparkplugs? i've been told 1-2 ranges colder, gapping etc. but what do they all mean? what should i take into consideration before choosing? thanx

On a stock ignition moderate boost, most guys on the forced induction board use NGK plugs bkr7e11, bfr7e11 , or zfr7e11 gapped to about 0.030 inch, all available through http://www.sparkplugs.com. The "7" refers to the heat range in this case "7" is colder than stock (not sure if it's one or two steps) and 11 refers to the gap in tenths of a millimeter. So this plug would have to be regapped since 1.10 mm = 0.043 inch. Hi power ignitions can run regular gap, reason being with the higher pressure in the cylinder it takes more voltage for the air to be ionized and the spark to form. A smaller gap required less energy for the spark to form thus the boost plus smaller gap effects cancel each other. The lower temp plug I believe is to reduce the chances of a hot plug causing detonation. Try search on the forced induction board.
thanx for your help. what are the differences between the 3 preffixes(bkr, bfr, bcr) i've seen so many kinds all by ngk but they all state the 7 and the 11. also, i bought the one w/o the 11 so does this mean they aren't gapped? also, i'm think about about having these installed for now before i get my turbo. is this ok? or should i just wait?

the prefixes (bfr, bkr ...) refer to various design features like grooved versus non grooved electrode. Check the gap if they didn't come with a number on the end like -11. Running colder plugs pre turbo will be fine, they might get a little bit fouled. But why not wait, it's easy to replace plugs, you can do it yourself in 15 minutes.
