Something strange just pop under my hood while on my way back home from the store. It pop 5 minutes right before I enter my neighborhood. It was 6 PM and was quite dark outside already so I couldn't detect what the problem was. I did saw a pile of smoke coming up under the front windshield window. I thought to myself my car couldn't just overheat. I just left from the store 10 minutes ago, checked the temp and it's not high or anything, but all suddenly something just went POP! When I got home I parked the car and check under hood there is coolant leaked. Checked under the car and man there were a bunch of coolant leaking down to the sement. Is this just bad coolant hose that was swollen ( haven't change my coolant hose for years) and somehow just went out on itself, or is this something else? Oh and some additional information I was kind of rev high on the way as well. It's a civic hatch.

 

I checked one of the coolant hose and it was ripped. I'm guessing that yesterday the pop noise was cause by a ripped hose causing a small pile of smoke to come up in the front windshield. I don't believe my car was overheat last night because if it did I would have seem lots of smoke coming out of the hood. I only saw a little pile small smoke in one area only so I believe it was hose ripped. Not sure why it got ripped though, maybe I was speeding. I don't know.
