Is something missing from my tranny?
My mph isnt working, cluster and VSS is good, so I took out the entire VSS assembly out and u know how it has gears/teeth at the end? well I looked inside the hole in the tranny and there were no gears/teeth on in there to turn the gear/teeth on the VSS. Kilda like this..
I put my finger in there and felt around and it felt like an empty hole all the way around is it possible that when they took my tranny apart to put in the LSD they forgot to put back in the gear that turns the other gear on the VSS? or is it not even touched when installing an LSD?

there should be a gear that turns the VSS gear around the diff.
its a pain in the *** to remove and sometimes they crack when trying to remove.....maybe the place who installed the LSD didn't put the speedo gear on the diff or they broke it.
what really sucks is that the speedo gear is NOT available separately from the dealer.......you have to buy the whole diff which is big bucks...

BTW: For a 95 civic SI it is called GEAR, SPEEDOMETER DRIVE and is 19.29 I would give them a call and see if the parts are available though because sometimes they are not like mentioned above.

its a 96 LS trans and today I confirmed that the gear is missing. eithe rthat or off balce, I can see the shiny bearing clear as day, and when I look into my friends b16 tranny I see the gear and cvan feel it when I stick my finger in. I hope this shop fixes this for free because its not my fault.
