Default Solid Check Engine Light

*I searched and found no definitive answer*
I checked to see if my ecu was throwing any codes after the swap and all I got was a solid check engine light. Does this mean that there are no codes or that the ecu is bad. In the threads that I've searched different people said dirrent things. Also, if it does mean the ecu is defective, can it go bad from sitting in a car outside for about a year and a half? possibly from moisture or something? And is it likely the whole ecu is messed up? I ask because I am getting no spark.
TIA

edit: by whole ecu i mean is it likely that it is causing now spark versus just running shitty

also, its a chipped p28, if the chip was bad it would still have spark correct? I took the ecu cover off and visually everything looks fine

I shouldn't need my flame suit hopefully, I asked a question after searching previous threads. And I know next to nothing about electronics and computers when it comes to cars! Anyway the link you posted helped a little, i found a couple threads that said that a solid cel means a deffective ecu

The reason you need your flame suit is because PGMfi.org is becoming more and more well known to everyone on HT. If you ever have a problem with electronics, be sure to hit up this site before you say you searched and couldnt find an answer.

By the way project_hatch1.8, is this Will from stanwood?

hey, if you start your car (or just turn it to the ON position for more than 3 seconds) the CEL will come on for ~3seconds then go off. if it does that your fine and there are no codes. if it comes on and stays on you have a code and then you need to jumper it to check them. when your checking them it will blink and all that ****, if at that time it has no blinks and is just solid THEN you have a problem... but if the CEL on the dash isnt on then you jumper it, it will show a 'solid CEL'...

If you are running a chipped P28 you could very easily have a bad chip. I have had more than one person from right here on Honda-Tech make me a chip and it do the same exact thing. I remove the chip they made and reinstall the cheap *** Ebay chip I got with the ECU and everything works good. So if I were you I would try and find someone to make a chip for you. Plus try and get chrome, because Uber is mainly the one that has been used for me in the past and I have headr that may be part of the problem. I also had some problems when I had the quick change zif socket in the ecu. Hope this helps.
