Default Smog experts please Help

I have converted my bros 89 civic hb dx to obd1 to pass ca ref with B16. All wiring is correct. Using stock P28 (ref letting us get away with this one), have jdm dc sports type R header 2.5 collector, and new cat (non hi-flow) and custom 2.5 exhaust. Also aem short ram intake. All wiring and vacuums lines pass. Did sea foam already and had fresh oil in motor. Also using 87 oct. Drive to ref is about 40 min away so cat is hot when bro gets there. Please your expert help would be appreciated. TIA Also have pic of failed smog.

I would try and put 91 octane in your car instead of 87 due to the JDM b16a having a high compression. I would assume that would be te problem however it also migh be the ECU since the maps are for a single instead of a double cam. Other than that there's nothing I can think of as of right now. Hope this helps.

Would like to get solid info about octane rating affecting smog and exactly what it affects ie hc, co, co2. heard something similar just hoping a h-t member with solid knowledge can help. Wish I had a stock P30 but don't. Thanks for the reply Nick

actually all-data, the computer software manual that most mechanics/smog refs use is wrong. It says that a del sol dohc vtec b16a2 should use the p28 ecu. I had to go to honda to prove to the ref that the p30 i was using was correct. I believe that the octane rating effects mostly nox.

Thanks for clearing up the octane part. Any other input appreciated. Would replacing the header with a stock manifold help?
