slowly cranking
sup guys well i just replaced my headgasket.. and got everything tourqd right... and adjusted the valves... well i got to start the car.. and it is slowly cranking over, sounds kinda like the battery is bad/dead.. so i get the jumper cables.. and jump it.. still does it... so i get a good battery out of a running car... still does it... so i think mayb the timing is off... nope tdc and cam gears up... the only thing i did different than everyother headgasket change is adjusted the valves.. could havin the valves too tight/loose cause it to do this? what could be the problem

.007 intake and .008 exhuast i think....does it start? if not you may have the valve adjustment to tight and therefor no compression...my 2 cents
as for turning over slow...could be the starter
as for turning over slow...could be the starter
yes the the valves being out if spec will have a no crank condition. but only if they are totally extreamly out of spec. i have had this happen once before they were tooloose and not opening the valves enough to complete the intake/exhaust stroke. most likly something else check spark and for fuel and go from there.
k guys got it to start.. cleaned out the starter... ok now to keep it ideled i have to turn the distributor all the way toward the car... the gears and everything are lined up at TDC... what could cause it not to idle anywhere else... and it still barely idles... i need to adjust my valves.. cause i hear clacking in the valvecover...
