Slipping AEM Cam Gears?
I am planning on using some AEM cam gears on my ls/vtec project but i have heard people talk about them slipping. Does anyone actually have any real experiences with this happening? if this is the case, im gonna get myself a pair of toda gears but until i hear some bad stuff about the AEM ones im stickin with them.
ive heard of the AEM gears slipping also, but i dont have any cam gears so i dont know. I have heard that the skunk2 cam gears are better because they have a 6 bolt design instead of 3. For a little more money i would go with the skunk2 gears. The only benefit that i can see from the toda gears over the skunk2's are that the timing marks are machined onto the gears so that they dont fade with time. Toda makes good stuff but i think you pay more because of the name. Machining the timing marks into the gear doesnt justify toda's price if you ask me, when i get gears im gonna go with skunk2.
anyone experience slipping with any of these gears?

I had Skunk2's. They didn't slip. I have AEM gears now. They haven't slipped. Gears will almost never slip if they are properly tightened. The ones with more bolts (like Skunk2) give you more of a safety net though in case you forget to tighten one.

I have had the same set of AEM cam gears since 1999, no slipping, torqued to 19 ft/lbs. I did upgrade the bolts, because the allen head portion of the bolts that came with the gears were starting to strip.
