Default skunk2 disaster.

ya. i had a great na set up= gsr block p30 pistons, b16 head omni valves springs and retainers, blox stage 3 cams and SKUNK2 CAM GEARS . ran great with an itr tranny and misc bolt ons. when i got tuned they didnt play with my cam gears so i never touched them. i guess that i thought they were tightend from skunk2. i must have been wrong, cause about 3 months later the cam gear slipped and my head bit the dust. so i will never run cam gears again, this happened to another one of my friends just recently. anyone else?

Instead of just avoiding adjustable gears altogether....why don't you just tighten them properly? just a thought. Thousands of people run them without issue. When ever there is an issue, 9 out of 10 times its install error. If your running good sized cams you'd be foolish not to tune them correctly.

the fact that it ran fine for three months hitting 9000rpms daily baffles me.

another mishap with adjustable cam gears, it should be in everyones mind that the possibility can happen, thats why when you tighten them. i suggest put on some lock tite on each bolt and then tightening them. extra security (i did that and never had a gear slip)

This is precisely why I only ever recommend ST Corsa cam sprockets because they physically could not slip. The design was excellent and it's a shame that the company did not actively market them well enough to support their continued manufacture.

As a substitute, the Bisimoto cam gears are a decent choice since their design significantly limits the possibility of slipping, though the pricing could be a bit better.

I don't question the fact that you've had positive experience with the traditional design, but some people might prefer the added security afforded by a different, anti-slip design.

i'll use a 3 bolt allen head aem cam gear, brand new skunk pro cam gear or any other damn cam gear on the market on any motor. As long as the bolts are tight, they are good to go.

To the OP. Dont **** on skunk for something without proper diagnosis.

I've tried almost every cam gear and never had one slip (the st corsa has the pin so it is impossible for it to slip, but i feel that it is kind of heavy). the right torque and some extra lock tite and no more worries

just check the torqe periodically when you do a oil change. might be a good idea to check the titanium retainers for wear periodically also.
better to check them and never need it than need it and never checked them

If that's the case... I would be very kind of you to change the OP. The sentence " i had a great na set up= gsr block p30 pistons, b16 head omni valves springs and retainers, blox stage 3 cams and SKUNK2 CAM GEARS " may send the wrong message to those reading.

I'm glad your back up and running
