Si transmission???
hey, n00b here. been lurking for a while enjoying all the funny stuff in kills and the fancy turbo setups in FI. anyway...
i don't drive a honda. my good friend does, though. he's got a 2000 EX, not much done for performance stuff other than a aem intake and a kragens hi-flow muffler, but that doesn't really matter. a couple months ago his tranny took a ****. the synchro's were gone, the gears were grinding, it was basically un-driveable.
so, he takes it to a local import perf. shop to get a new transmission installed. the guy sells him on a civic Si transmission, and when it's all done he goes to test it out to find that it has long *** gears!!! i'm talking about taking it to redline in 1st and shifting into 2nd @ 60mph, 3rd at 80-something, etc. that's just nuts!
so my question is: did my buddy get ripped or what? is that normal on Si's? or did he get a Si tranny but keep the Ex final drive gear? my friend knows jack about cars, and i'm not to savvy on transmissions, so thanks for the help

Ok, stating 2000 Civic EX, and having an Si transmission, I assume he got a 92-95 Civic Si transmission since the 99-00 is a B series and will not bolt up to the D series (which he has if he still has the stock D16Y8 motor).
Those gears aren't as long as you describe, he probably got a DX tranny or something. What is the code on the transmission?
