Default should i get a new motor?

I've got about 196k on my car now. Should i just get a swap with less miles or is it worth trying to work on the engine i have now...like do some piston work etc?

I'm also considering in putting a turbo in my car in the near future.

Agreed. Unless your head is in bad condition, just buy a new short block. Since you can keep running your engine right now, and if you know how to install pistons, rods, and rings. I would buy new JE pistons and forget about a turbo. Your compression will be high = HORSEPOWER. This is what I plan on doing sometime...
