Default Should I get a car with ls/vtec?

I hope this is the right forum but I'm planning on picking up this EG with an lsvtec engine he built himself. The engine he says only has 20k on it so I don't think it is closed to being dead. After talking to some friends, one suggests I rebuild it, and another suggests I shouldn't buy the car because it'll probably blow or there is something wrong with it. I really didn't want a lsvtec engine because I plan to boost. I'm don't really know that much about the engine and stuff but is there anything I can do to see if it's built correctly? In the end, I might end up selling it and buying a D series engine but for now would the ls last a couple years if I don't? I've looked up many topics on lsvtec's and it seems like they aren't very reliable... So what are your guy's opinions on buying used lsvtec's?

Thanks

Wow..

You would need to know what its made from do a comp test to see if its healthy.

I myself wouldn't buy a modded car ever. lsvtecs can be great for boost and very reliable all in the builder.

I'm sure a fast search would have helped you.
