should i DIY
my bearings are going out got little copper fragments in oil. Im pretty good at working on Hondas(done many swaps, head gaskets, know all the little ****, good with electrical circuits and diagnosis) and wonder if I should pay someone else for the work. I have a chiltons for all the torque specs and an torque wrench, but not micrometer. I will be doing a full bearing, seal, and ring rebuild and have an machine shop do a small over bore. If this is out of my hands let me know.

I'm in the same boat. I've basically torn apart and rebuilt every single part on my car except the motor.
I figure building it will be cake. Just spend $500 in tools, which is about what a good builder would charge anyway. Then you have the tools to do it again, or you can sell them off on ebay and basically get all your money back.
The internals of a motor are really simple anyway. Just nuts and bolts
. If you can do everything else, why not this?
I'm going to basically follow this to a "T" : http://www.evans-tuning.com/fo...build
One of the proudest things I can say is that I've never let another person touch my car, ever. If I have someone else work on it now, it will feel like my car is tainted.

D@MN!!! thats a nice write up. dont let your pride be the doom of your motor though. turning the bolts is the easy part, my kid sister could do that. Its the 'mic'ing and measuring that makes the difference. as long as you can get accurate numbers the rest is pie.
wow that write up is incredible. It does not seem that difficult, just must be a perfectionist about clearances and other precautions. I wasnt aware how much all those tools are going to cost, ouch... ill go pricing later on and see what is happening
