Default short shifter

i was wondering if a short shifter feels prettty stiff when you try to shift it when you first get it installed because i got one on my civic and it feels pretty stiff...is this normal??

If it is REALLY stiff, they could have overtightened the bolt that attaches the end of the shifter to the linkage. You should normally have a small increase in stiffness since you moved your leverage point. If you went for the mega-short throw shifter with short shaft, it may be hard to shift (once again, you have less leverage because of the shifter pivot point) throught the gears .
