Default short circuit? overload?

i have a 1995 Accord Lx 5 speed manual. for a while in order for my car to start i need to take the cable going from the positive battery terminal to the fuse box and lift it up and to the right to get the car to start. unless the cable was moved in that way the lights and stuff would not turn on. that had to happen every time to start the car. then that stopped working. now it wont start at all. the battery is brand new. it is staying charged, even over the month and a half of disuse. the said cable is also still good. recently i took a 12v probe and attempted to test every fuse in the car, but i connected it to the battery and it would not light up at all. the probe is good too because when i touch both posts on the battery, it lights up. any help would be great.

You have a connection problem, to find it connect the test light ground to the batt. neg.(-) and the probe to batt. pos.(+), tesst light should light up, [as it did when you tried it] now move probe to terminal in fuse box that the batt. cable is connected to, if no power touch the probe to the the cable itself, if still no power use a jummper lead, [jumper cables will work] connect one end to the batt. pos.(+) and touch/clamp the other end to the batt. terminal in fuse box, if things start working replace the batt. cable.

If there is power at the batt. terminal in the fuse box move the probe to the other end of main fuse. 94

i did what you said and there is power at the battery terminal in the fuse box. i do not know where the end of the main fuse is though, but inn looking for it i noticed a bunch of 20 A fuses and one 15 A fuse do not light up when i touch them with the probe when it is clamped to the positive battery post. i dont know what that means either.

The test light would have to stay connected to the batt. neg.(-) post when probing the fuses.

Is this your fuse box... http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/94-97...ayphotohosting

If so, the main fuses are the ones held down with the Philips screws, I see 4 main fuses a blue, [close to the batt. and alt. input terminals] two green ones, [to the left of the blue one] and a red one at the bottom of fuse box, touch test light probe to both ends, [Philips screw] of all the main fuses, ground clamp on test light must be on batt. neg.(-) post. 94

yeah that is what the fuse box looks like. after a couple hours checking for bare wires and and possible burns underneath the fuse box i re attached it. it was then i noticed the light on the driver side door was on. so the only problem ive had for the last few months is a bad connection to the fuse box from the battery. thanks for your help.
