shift light wiring
i just got a shift light for my car (95 del sol vtec), and i was wondering about the wire that you have to run to the coil. i was thinking about tapping into the wire closer to the dash rather than running a whole new wire from the coil. but my brother said that he heard it makes it more innacurate (approx 50-100rpm) if you do that. so i was wondering if this is true? preferably, i would like to run a wire from the factory tach into the shift light. is that possible either?

My Integra has a blue wire near the master cylinder that is an external tach signal hookup. It is there to allow for testing rpm's without having to connect to the internal coil. I have my shift light hooked up to it. I think the wire and location is common to other Hondas. The wire ends in a standard connector which has a cover in it and is taped over to keep the cover in.
yeah, i know where to hook it up under the hood. im just wondering if it looses its accuracy if you hook it up to your tach instead. i want to keep my engine bay looking as clean as possible, but i dont want to loose the accuracy. if the shift light engages 200rpm after its supposed to, that could cause lots of problems.
