Default Shift fork question

I just recently bought this tranny(89 crx dx 5spd) for my auto-manual swap, but on installing my throwout bearing i noticed a slight metal sound coming from inside everytime i shifted the transmission from left to right.
So i found this:

The peice of shift fork belongs with the other half on the very bottom fork.

Now for the question:

Which one of these is the correct part number for this particular shift fork.

And what the expletive is this, is it suppsoed to be sitting around by itself? it doesnt attach itself to any gear.

Im extremely new to this transmission stuff

That gear is the reverse idler gear. Its supposed to be in that position

THe fork that broke appears to be the 1st-2nd shift fork and that page lists it as 24220-PL3-010
