Making a gasket
So I was wondering if I was able to use the material found in any autopart store.
Its for my header, Its a two peice and I need to replace it however
dont know where to find replacement gaskets by tomm afternoon.
Its for where the two peice comes together, and header meets the cat.
Here are what my current ones look like.
So can I use anything I can get from a local auto parts store to make a gasket?
I found a sorta rubber substance that said something about it but wasnt sure.
Thanks

If you're talking about what I THINK you're talking about...you're referring to a little VERY soft metal "gasket" that goes between pipe joints for the exhaust such as pipe to muffler or what you described. You wouldn't want to use any rubber thing because it will melt for sure. There are standard "gaskets" you can purchase from an auto store to just plug in then and you have to kinda rotate/smack the pipes together to get the gasket to mold to the pipe. Just get the correct size so you don't have to keep going back and buying other sizes.
