Default Settle a Dispute...LS VTEC vs Type R

So I am building an LS VTEC:

B16 Head
AEBS IM
Je 12.2 Pistons
Eagle Rods
LS Crank
Type R Cams and Valve Springs
Skunk 2 Cam Gears
Hondata S200
Type R Oil Pump
Balanced and Blue Printed Block
Knife Edged Crank
ACL Bearings

(Probably leaving out a few things)

His Type R:

CTR Pistons
Skunk2 Stage 2 Cams (valve Springs and Retainers)
Sunk 2 Cam Gears
Hondata

So....who will make more HP and Torque?

I'd put my money on the R.....

hybrid motors make good torquey motors, but for a straight up power motor, the high-revving, well-designed R's will rip it up.

the R should only lay down 175WHP give or take 5WHP... i think you got him beat

If you are both tunned propertly it will be close on the power, u will have better torque through the whole power band, thats assuming everything is running right. My 2.0 ls has u both though.

I think he'll edge u out on the HP...but you'll have the torque on him.

I think that both setups should be good for 200whp. I would say that properly tuned, the ITR will make more peak torque, with torque coming on sooner for the LSVTEC.

you are lookin at about the same compression ratio...but u should rev farther and your bottom end beats his

Umm... how do you figure that? He has a stock ITR valvetrain and cams, so he's not going to rev higher than The ITR. With a full skunk2 valvetrain and stage 2 cams the ITR can make power to 9K RPMS or maybe more.

Can I vote for "it doesn't matter?"

Peak HP/TQ figures mean next to nothing

i would leave the crank instead of knife edging if u want even more torque...(depending how much the crank is knifed/lightend)..with the compression and cams that the itr is using i think the itr will make more hp...torque not to sure...just MY OPINION.

Alrght so the new question...

Slight weight reduction on the Si vs the Type R....1/4 mile estimates with good drivers and who would win...

I think the ITR will win if you 2 run cause traction will be a slight problem for the SI

I think the R will win b/c of the better gearing.

similiar gearing , but lets not forget the LSD and the fact that the ITR weighs less then the Si , u said a lil weight reduction so who knows how much your talking about, its close but i wouldn't be to cocky anything can happen, skunk2 stage2 pulls hard up top!
