Default Sequential Sport Shift Problem

OK TECH's try to figure out this dilema... I drive a 2000 Prelude Base w/ that Sequential Sport Shift option. I've had the car for almost two years now. Once in a blue moon I drag, but not lately. Anyways, the problem is that when it shifts from 3rd to the 4th gear the tranny doesn't seem like it's catching. Even on 4th gear its bearly catches. The first 20K miles it was fine then after that **** started to happen. I brought it to Honda to get it checked but the technicians there found nothing. I was like WTF, so I just went to my bodyshop and drained and filled the tranny fluid. For a while it was cool, then it came back. No matter what mode (SS or AT) I'm on slippage happens from 3rd to 4th and low RPM range(3K-5K) on 4th gear. Do you think its the torque converter or what? Please help.

Last time I went to my Honda dealer, they treated me like a God daymn ingrate. I don't know. Just cuz my car is fixed up they straight think I'm a hardcore racer. They thought I had a twin turbo for God sakes. Do you think it's possible to replace it with a manual tranny if its still under warranty. I heard mods void it though. I got DC headers, Apex'i Exhaust and FIELDS SFC-VTEC controller.

certain mods void the warranty but intake and exhaust won't, if they have carb numbers its cool...plus u can uninstall them and they would never know...

ur car is lowered pretty low...thats not to good...when dealerships look at that, they'll just turn u away...

That is a sign that your transmission is going out. I've seen that happen. Soon enough your car won't even go into gear. Hope you got warranty on it. It cost like 3000.00 for the dealer to put in a new one. Might as well get a JDM H22A for that price. Prelude with sport shifter transmission doesn't last long under harsh driving. Good luck with the trans...

i would maybe try a another dealer. be like look: this vehicle has a shitty tranny. i need a new put. tell em you want a rent a car too. a SUV you didnt buy the car so that the tranny could go out after some spirited driving.

its possible to do. my buddy had his replaced three times underwarranty. but he's a smoof criminal.

i always tread lightly cause i dont want them to mess up my car. but my buddy just tells em what to do.

like i said try a different dealership. it may be worth it to switch out your exhasut and springs and **** just to get the car worked on under warranty. trannys are expensive.

from my understanding, as long as you don't modify the tranny in any way shape or form, it will be covered under warranty. say if you lowered your vehicle, they will not cover the suspension. but as another member suggested, put all the stock parts on as far as engine mods go and go back to them.

you have to be persistent. my friend had the same problem with his 98 civic ex as far as the transmission goes. they were total fucken dicks to him but, he persisted and got his **** replaced after going through a lot of bullshit.

with all the horror stories with dealers backing up the warranty, i say you get your **** fixed, **** it up, get your **** fixed and **** it up again. so after the third time, they have to give you a new car because of the lemon law. that should teach them a lesson.
